Harriet Finck

My painting and drawing practice is deeply, if not obviously, informed by my background in architecture.

I am fundamentally interested in the forces of order and disorder: how large masses break apart, how particles come together.

Through this lens, I have looked at landscapes, geologic forms, swarming cells, cosmic bodies, pebbles on the beach, textiles, fireworks, and faces. Hebrew texts - sometimes tne actual words - have been a motif. Evoking tools, and various objects, became important to me during the Covid lockdown, and it still is.
